In addition, you may get a stronger Wi-Fi signal by changing the wireless channel your router or access point uses to transmit. Test your downloads in an alternative browser or email client if you have one. If the alternative program works, your issues are probably being caused by a fault with the original browser software rather than the network connection.
Delete cookies and temporary Internet files, and clear the browser's cache. If this doesn't work, reinstall the browser if possible. Also run a virus scan, as networking faults can be a symptom of virus infection.
Routers use automatically generated routing tables to ensure that they send data to the correct destination. An error in one of these tables could result in download traffic never making it to your computer. To fix this, return the router to factory default settings. This is usually done through a reset hole on the device's control panel, or via an option in the router's menu.
If you reset the router, you'll usually need to re-enter any settings you had previously altered on the device.
